They’re beautiful to look at and full of lots of character. Plus they’ve got a hippo. Do I need to say more?” —The iPhone Mom

Hippo Hooray series was a “Gold Recipient” — Mom’s Choice Awards

Created by parents for their own children (and tested extensively with those very same kids), Scoop Shoppe is a great way to help young children hone their pattern matching skills and keep them entertained. From the makers of the Hippo Hooray series of iOS apps including Hippo Hooray Colors, Shapes, Numbers, and Letters, Animals, Fruit, Alien Monster Mix and Match, and A Story Before Bed, this accessible game has several characters (including a giraffe, monkey, and rhino as well as Honey the Hippo and Rafael the Robin) asking the player to build ice cream cones that match the orders coming into the ice cream shop. Starting with only a few options the first few cones are simple. But after a series of successful orders the player gets new ingredients and more complicated orders. Children can keep playing to see how high a score they can achieve!

The illustrations are adorable, the characters are cute, and the ice cream cones look ready to eat… delicious! In addition to the high quality artwork, the user interface is super simple letting your toddler focus on cognitive, language, and motor development.

Sign up for our mailing list right inside the app to hear about new apps for kids in the Hippo Hooray series.

Your favorite characters from Hippo Hooray – Honey the Hippo and Raphael the Robin find themselves wandering through the twelve days of Christmas and all the traditional gifts and events that ensue. There are maids a-milking, French hens, a partridge, a pear tree, and everything else you’d expect.

The illustrations are vibrant and lovely, and the music is a modern instrumental version of this classic Christmas carol so you can sing along. The lyrics show up on the screen just in time to guide you through the song. This app is engaging and beautiful for everyone from toddlers to adults. Everyone can enjoy this colorful bit of Christmas cheer.

Also, if you like this version, you can go to A Story Before Bed (www.astorybeforebed.com) and record a video of yourself reading (or even singing) the book so your children or grandchildren can watch it on the web as often as they like. For the first time, a book is available both as an iPhone app and as a recordable video book on the web. Get both and bring Christmas cheer to every corner of your life.

A young voice encourages your child to choose the right number, helps them if they don’t pick right the first time, and pats them on the back when they choose correctly. In addition to teaching kids to recognize numbers, Hippo Hurray Numbers has counting screens where children can count cupcakes, party hats, and balls. There’s even a line of text for grownups to use to help guide their toddler and to help in noisy environments. Every so often a short video will pop up congratulating your child on doing a great job.
